Organic Yellow Squash

Yellow SquashAlderman Farms' Yellow Squash are very large in size, beautifully vibrant in color and hugely popular with our consumers. Easy to grow and prolific, summer squashes are perfect for any size garden. Yellow squash is a tender, warm-season vegetable that can be grown throughout the United States on bush-type plants. A few healthy and well-maintained plants produce abundant yields. Squash, particularly the yellow variety, is a very popular vegetable in the South.

You'll find it fresh, frozen, or canned at any time of the year. Summer squash can be served raw with other vegetables as part of a vegetable platter with dips, in salads, grilled, broiled, steamed, stir-fried, deep-fried, boiled, baked, or stuffed. They mix well with onions, tomatoes and okra in vegetable medleys. Because of its mild flavor, it can be added to almost any main-dish recipe or pasta sauce for texture, flavor, and color. Freezing softens the flesh of the squash, but it will still be usable in casseroles and other dishes where crispness is not important. Use herbs and spices to enhance the flavor of mild summer squash. Dill, pepper, basil, marjoram, chives, and mint are particularly well-suited to squash, and it is delicious cooked with garlic, onions, and tomatoes.

At Alderman Farms, we take pride in the firm, glossy skin of our Yellow squash. Our Yellow Squash are available from early November - end of May and are packed in ½ bushel boxes to ensure safe-handling for shipping to our markets.
